1. Dictionary Apps for iPhone, iPad and Android

Download these apps to use dict.cc's complete vocabulary offline on your mobile device. Just search for "dict.cc" in the AppStore or on Google Play!

2. Offline Dictionary

Christian Simon has written a program for looking up translations without being connected to the Internet. This "elcombri Translator" is available for free under the terms of the GPL and can be downloaded at www.elcombri.de. The vocabulary database is not contained in the program and has to be downloaded from dict.cc in a second step.

3. Plugin for the dictionary included in Mac OS X 10.5+

Philipp Brauner created a dict.cc plugin for Mac OS X.

The application is free for personal use. The translation data contained must not be extracted and/or republished in any way. Installation instructions can be found at lipflip.org. Please direct any questions to Philipp!

4. Linux dictionary (gtk+)

This program (» Download) also uses dict.cc's vocabulary database and is licensed under the GPL. Its developer is Lukasz Czajka.

5. Dictionary in Perl

This Perl script (» Download) is tiny and very useful to search the vocabulary database. Developed by matthias.bloch (at puffin dot ch).

6. C#-Wörterbuch (.NET, Mono)

This program (» Download) runs on Windows and Windows Mobile as well as on platforms that support Mono. Developed by Daniel Stoinski.

7. MDict

MDict is a dictionary tool available for several platforms that doesn't come with vocabulary data, but can use data from different online sources. The vocabulary data from dict.cc cannot be used directly, that's why Tobias Ernst created a converter (for Windows) to create MDict files from dict.cc data.

8. Windows Integration

Use the shareware program "LingoClick" to access dict.cc from any Windows application. Just hold down the shift key and right-click the word to look it up.

Other similar (free) software products are Multifultor and IntelliWebSearch.

9. Ding for Windows

That's a dictionary application for Windows able to use dict.cc's vocabulary databases.

10. Dictionary file for the E-Book-Reader Pocketbook

A German-English dictionary file for Pocketbook devices is available for download here. It includes dict.cc's English-German vocabulary as of Feb. 2011 and is free to use (as long as it is not republished).
